MADELEINE THIEN is the author of three books of fiction, including Certainty, which won the Amazon First Novel Award. Her collection of stories, Simple Recipes, was a finalist for the Commonwealth Writers Prize and won the Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize and the City of Vancouver Book Award. Dogs at the Perimeter was shortlisted for Germany’s 2014 International Literature Prize. Her books have been translated into 18 languages.
Her writing has appeared in the Guardian, Granta, PEN America, The Walrus, Five Dials, Brick, Warscapes, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, National Post, Globe & Mail, Literary Review of Canada, and the Asia Literary Review. In 2010, she received the Ovid Festival Prize, awarded each year to an international writer of promise. She lives in Montreal.
