Unless otherwise noted, all events take place at the Hamilton Sheraton Hotel (116 King St W). Unless otherwise noted, admission to all events is $10 in advance or at the door.

7:30pm - Hamilton Reads: Battle of the Books
Ten local luminaries defend titles from the Ontario Library Association's 2013 Evergreen Reading List in our pre-opening night partner event with the Hamilton Public Library.
This event takes place at the Central Library. Free admission.

7:00pm - Poetry
gritLIT partners with the Hamilton Poetry Centre to welcome celebrated poets Roo Borson (Rain; road; an open boat) and Brian Henderson (Sharawadji).
8:30pm - A Century in Stories
Novelists Vincent Lam (The Headmaster's Wager), Tanis Rideout (Above All Things) and Elizabeth Ruth (Matadora) take a fascinating look back at the 20th century.

2:45pm - gritLIT Contest Winners (Free Admission)
Join two winners of last year's gritLIT writing competition, JonArno Lawson and Stan Rogal, as they share excerpts from their winning works.
3:30pm - Canada: Beyond Peacekeeping
A no-holds-barred discussion about Canada's changing military role in the 21st century with Noah Richler (What We Talk About When We Talk About War), Jamie Swift (Warrior Nation: Rebranding Canada in an Age of Anxiety) and Scott Taylor (Unembedded: Two Decades of Maverick War Reporting).
7:30pm - An Evening of Intrigue
Readings - with a few suprises along the way - from acclaimed mystery writers Jill Downie (A Grave Waiting), Maureen Jennings (Beware This Boy) and Robert Rotenberg (Stray Bullets).

Celebrate the art of the short story with Cary Fagan (My Life Among the Apes), Miranda Hill (Sleeping Funny) and Carrie Snyder (The Juliet Stories).
2:45pm - In Conversation with... (This is a pay-what-you-can event.)
IMPAC Dublin Literary Award-winning author Rawi Hage talks about living and working as a writer in Canada.
3:30pm - Survivor Stories
Grace O'Connell (Magnified World), Alice Petersen (All the Voices Cry) and Madeleine Thien (Dogs at the Perimeter) present three gripping tales of tragedy, loss and survival.
7:30pm - Closing Night Cabaret (This is a pay-what-you-can event.)
griLIT partners with LitLive for a gala closing night caberet with a little something for everyone!
Live music provides the introduction for fiction, non-fiction and poetry by Allison Baggio (In the Body), Susan Glickman (The Tale Teller), Mark Leslie (Haunted Hamilton), Moez Surani (Floating Life), Matthew Tierney (Probably Inevitable) and Natalie Zina Walschots (Doom: Love Poems for Supervillains)
