Local artist Amy Kenny has graciously agreed to allow her paintings of Hamilton to be used as the face of the gritLIT 2009 Literary Festival. These iconic paintings showcase Hamilton's wonderful architecture in energetic pop culture stylings. The committee is thrilled to have Kenny on board with the festival and to be showcasing this emerging Hamilton artist.

Amy Kenny is a Hamilton-based painter and writer. Her style is influenced by various comic book illustrators and pop artists of the 1950's and 60's. Common subject matter includes vintage artifacts, ephemera and Canadiana, Canadian musicians, and local architecture. Her Hamilton-centric work aims to shatter the perception of the city as a shades-of-gray steeltown by showcasing its buildings and public spaces in bright, bold colours. Amy sells her work online and at select Ontario arts markets. See her website, amykenny.ca, for up-to-date information on appearances, or to contact her about commissions.
