LARISSA LAI was born California, grew up in Newfoundland, and currently lives in Calgary. She was awarded an Astraea Foundation Emerging Writers Award in 1995. She is the author of the novel When Fox is a Thousand and Automaton Biographies, her first solo poetry book, which was shortlisted for the Dorothy Livesay Poetry Prize at the BC Book Prizes. She is also the author of the novel Salt Fish Girl and of a book-length collaborative long poem with Rita Wong called sybil unrest. Larissa’s latest novel is The Tiger Flu.
